29 Years and Counting!

Img04_08-10-2013On August 4, 2013, we celebrated the 29th Anniversary of the Efata Baptist Church of Callao!  It was such a wonderful day!  God blessed abundantly and we had 70 Deaf come, most of whom are from the Callao area!  We had 9 Deaf people accept Christ as their Saviour!  What a blessing it was to see God’s people witnessing to those who needed to be saved!  For some of them, it was the first time they had ever witnessed to anyone!folletos callao-1

We are now waiting for new tracts to be printed.  This is what they will look like.  In the meantime, Matt is teaching our people how to witness.  They are very excited about learning how to witness to the lost around them.  With God’s help, the Deaf can!

Running The Race

As I was thinking this morning about what to share with you, and asking the Lord about it, He reminded me of the message I heard yesterday morning – “Corramos con Pacencia” (“Let us Run with Patience”).

Yesterday (May 20th) we finished up our Anniversary Conference for Efata Baptist Church.  Efata celebrated 35 years this week!  What a joy and blessing to have had a part in this anniversary.  We had two visiting preachers from the U.S. – Bro. Joel Marsh (hearing) and Bro. Bill Schutt (Deaf).  These two men were such a blessing to all of us here at Efata.  Bro. Carlos (hearing) came with Bro. Marsh, and was also a great blessing!  You should hear him play the piano!

Bro. Marsh told a joke yesterday during the preaching and I actually got it!  I was so excited to actually get a joke in Spanish!  I think I laughed more because I got it, than because of the joke itself!

Bro. Schutt preached a message yesterday morning about running with patience – Hebrews 12:1-2.  It was a great encouragement to me to simply continue running the race until the Lord calls me home.  I found myself looking back at all the Lord has allowed me to do already in my life.  It really is exciting to think about all the Lord has in store for us in the coming days!  Bro. Schutt went on to explain about the different crowns we Christians can win, and how we are all winners in Heaven.

I was thinking this morning about how busy this past week was, then I realized I was simply running the race.  Some race days are busier than others, but we must keep running.  Some times the days seem long and boring, yet we must keep running.  Some days I find myself looking for a lemonade stand – a place where I can just sit and do nothing while everyone else passes me by!  Then the Lord sends someone by – a precious friend or perhaps a stranger – and uses that person to motivate me to get up and keep running.  The Lord reminds me that there are people coming behind me that need me to keep running – my children, my friends, my family, people who are not saved…the list goes on and on.  How thankful I am for His sustaining grace and strength that helps me keep running.

So, what am I going to do this week?  Well, I am going to have company for supper tonight, a Deaf choir activity tomorrow night, church on Wednesday and Thursday, probably shopping on Friday, language classes mixed into everything…I am simply going to run the race with patience.
